Limit Break (Exalted)
This article is imported from the Exalted wiki. See the import log for details.
This is a rules proposition that has been turned down. Instead, Solar Overload has been introduced.
Inspired by J.K. Knorr's Final Fantasy Exalted House Rule Overdrive
Even for the Chosen of the gods, there comes a point where one's back is to the wall. Out of Essense, practically no willpower left, bleeding from a dozen separate wounds, and evil closing in on all sides. Death isn't just breathing down your neck, he's set up shop in your house and is starting to rearrange the furniture.

Every Exalted has a Limit Break gauge. Add one point to the Limit Break gauge every time an Exalted receives enough damage to acquire a new wound penalty. Exalted with better soak and more levels of Ox-Body Technique will Limit Break less often than weaker, more fragile characters. When the Limit Break gauge hits 10, the character may use her Limit Break Combo.
Each Exalted has exactly one Limit Break Combo at any given time - it may be changed when raising her permanent Essence rating, or when she undergoes a similarly life-changing event (such as changing Nature). This Combo may consist of any number of Charms the Exalted already knows, plus one additional Charm that she does not know. Observe that the Combo must still be technically legal, and follow all the rules of a normal Combo, with the exception that the Exalted need not know one(1) of the Charms of the Limit Break Combo. If an Exalted learns the extra, unlearned, Charm that is part of her Limit Break Combo, she may immediately chose a new, unlearned, Charm to be a part of her Limit Break Combo.
Limit Break Combos have no Essence or Health Level costs, but retain any Willpower point and Experience point costs associated with them.
Despite the lack of Essense expenditure, use of a Limit Break Combo immediately pushes an Exalted's anima banner to the highest, totemic, level, as if the Exalted had just spent 16+ motes. At the end othe Limit Break combo or the round, whichever comes first, the Exalted becomes Incapacitated with 0 motes of Essence and 0 Willpower left.
