Description[edit | edit source]

The mountain province of Lord Hazir of House Ramalinga, Anaprava is nominally located outside the empire. Anaprava is a part of the Enlightened Monk's territory but also House Ramalinga lands. Its legal status is somewhat uncertain.

The land consists of barrens scrublands and steep mountains, with rice paddies in the river valley and on terraced land. The mountains hold many old fastnesses, abandoned monasteries, and lost temples, all of which are constantly scoured for treasure by happy-go-lucky adventurers and rogues. Unfortunately, the trade routes and ruins attract bandits - and some of the less-than-successful adventurers occasionally seek this path, too. Thus a strong guard contigent has always been neccessary.

Many of the old officials of this province were a part of the House Ramalinga mission to the fallen imperial court, so most positions had to be filled at very short notice with whatever people could be mustered. This includes the current lord Hazir, who was merely acting as a temporaty caravan master while the more senior lords were away at the capital. When the acting lord was slain in the fall of the imperial road, Lord Hazir was the lord closest to the ruling house.

A main trade road up into and over the mountains pass through Anaprava province and provide most of the province's income. The roads here used to be excellent, but suffered the same fate as all other imperial roads. A main goal of Lord Hazir is to rebuild the road over the mountains and reconnect to the lands of the Enlightened Monks and the western empire.

Because of its position on the border to the lands of the Enlightened Monks, Anaprava has many travellers, including pilgrims going to the mountains and young mountain-men seeking a life in the empire. That makes it a great place to recruit young lords and commoners alike. There used to be a university here, but that was unfortunately destroyed in the fall.
